Study Plans are available
for these designs - remember a study plan gives you more details and a
wood materials list usually on two A1 sheets, so that you can cost out a project
before ordering the full plans. When you order the full construction plans
you do not need to order the study plan as well, as all the study details
are on the full plans.
We have 5 designs - all
are round bilged in hull shape - 4 are specifically for strip planking and 1
which is designed for conventional carvel planking but which could be strip
planked.
Note -
In the particulars for each design, the dry weight is given for guidance
only and will vary depending on the grade/density of plywood and solid
wood used - different thicknesses of ply are often used by builders and
the dry weight figure is based on the thinnest ply specified.
Also the Guidance Use comments are given in good faith and are based on
feedback from previous builders etc and based on standard weight adults
- contact us if you want further clarification before ordering/building.
Speed and power requirements are also based on feedback and estimates
and are for guidance only - actual speeds attained will depend on
loading etc.

The 30’ Amaryllis was commissioned by Mr. William Fuller to replace his 22’
steam launch. The new launch will be built by the International Boat Building
College in Lowestoft using conventional planked methods. She uses a 25 hp steam
unit by J. Alex Ritchie.
She is of a size which allows a variety of different layouts to be used. The
standard plans include a computer faired lines plan and offsets, construction
details for conventional planking and an arrangement plan for the layout shown.
We can generate drawings for strip or cold moulded construction with computer
lofted mould drawings allowing the builder to get straight down to construction.

EDWARDIAN 30
|
|
This steam launch has been designed for a client in South Africa and will be
used for educational trips in an area of great natural beauty. She is a
development of our Edwardian range and uses strip plank construction techniques
on computer faired mould shapes.
Power comes from a 15 h.p. steam plant although she can accommodate both
electric and internal combustion engines. The layout is divided roughly equally
between a saloon which has a settee dining area, galley and w.c. and a forward
open cockpit area. The layout may be changed to suit. Both air draft and water
draft have been kept to a minimum to extend her inland cruising capability. LOD

30' SISKIN
|
|
|
With the number of hulls modeled on our YachtCAD system, this launch
demonstrates our ability to quickly design a craft which embodies features from
a number of other craft in order to meet the rquirements specified by a
particular client and to easily access the new craft's hydrostatic data from
known craft. In this case the client required a launch with plumb stem and
transom stern with a narrow beam (for use on our narrow gauge canals) and large
carrying capability on a length of 30'. He liked the stem of our Linnet design
and some of her other characteristics and we therefore used her as the model for
this new design.
The drawings give details for the construction of a strip planked hull with
computer faired mould shapes. If required, we can give details for the
construction and fit-out of a saloon, steering system and engine installation
from one of our other designs. LOD 30' (9.15m); Beam 6'9" (2.06m); Draft

38'6" LINNET RIVER LAUNCH
|
|
|
This was a commission for David Graham Boatbuilders at Wargrave on the Thames
for an electric river launch. The hull is based upon our Edwardian series with a
graceful counter stern but instead of the clipper bow, a vertical stem was
called for. She has the displacement volume to carry extensive banks of
batteries low down in her bilges where their weight acts as ballast. She could
equally be fitted out with a steam engine and boiler and she would have plenty
of space for large bunkers.
The general arrangement drawn has a spacious cabin with a galley and w.c.
compartment and a large canopied forward cockpit. The original launch was built
using strip plank techniques and therefore the computer faired sectional mould
shapes, stem and stern profiles and the building jig drawing are available along
with a general arrangement drawing and recommendations for scantlings. Full
construction and fit out details for the amateur builder can be drawn up to suit
individual requirements. LOD 38'6" (11.59m); Beam 6'10" (2.08m).
The drawings also give details for a multi-chine (3 chines/'V' bottom)
plywood version.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS FOR THE
LINNET |
|
We
now have drawings which give the hull/superstructure and fit-out
drawings for a “Flat Top” version of the Linnet launch—these
drawings are based on the 38’6”
(11.59m) x 9’10” (3m) beam version of the Linnet and provide a
layout which has 4 berths (double in fore cabin), galley and dinette in
the deck cabin along with a shower and wc. The original will be powered
by two electric pods but there is plenty of room for diesels plus
generator etc under the deck house sole.
The
additional superstructure and fit-out details for this “Flat Top”
version cost an additional £135 incl. VAT (UK/EU); £115/$184
(US/Elsewhere) - a GA sheet is sent out with the standard study plan at
no additional charge.

EDWARDIAN 50
|
|
The Edwardian 50 has been designed for canal and inland river use. She has a
beam of 7’6’’ which allows her to navigate much of our inland waterways
and a height (air draft) which will let her get under most bridges. Her
construction drawings are for strip planked construction and show computer
faired mould shapes for the building jig. The Cedar hull is intended to be
sheathed inside and out giving a stiff shell. To keep her underwater draft low,
her propeller works inside a tunnel.
The construction method can be changed and she could, for instance, be made from
multi-chine plywood. She may be fitted out in a variety of ways but the standard
layout shows a saloon with a raised ‘clerestory’ roof with a large forward
open cockpit/engine room, aft cockpit. The saloon houses an enclosed wc
compartment, galley and four settee/berths.
LOD 48’9’’ (14.85m); LWL 40’2’’ (12.22m); Beam 7’6’’ (2.29m);
Draft 2’2’’ (.66m); Displacement 7.73 tons (7.85 tonnes).
Construction plans presently exist for the hull, decking, superstructure. |
