CHRISTINE OPEN TREKKING CANOE MODEL

This is a model of one of Selway Fisher's most popular canoe designs - she was originally designed for a client in Australia who wanted a lightweight canoe to explore the outback with.

A couple of hundred Christine's have been built all round the world, some by schools and training organizations. More details of the full-size canoe can be found at Selway Fisher Design Christine. The full-size Christine has a length of 13'9" and a beam of 31".

Construction uses 0.4 - 0.75mm aircraft modeling plywood and the tack and tape (stitch and tape) construction method. The plans give full-size plank shapes and seat shapes etc for the model. The planks are cut out of the thin plywood using scissors and held together with Sellotape before the seams are glued together using a PVA glue.

These 3 photos show examples of the full-size Christine - she was designed as a 4 plank (per side) canoe but the full-size plans now also include the plank shapes for a 5 plank version.

Model Plans
The model plans consist of one A1 sheet giving full-size shapes for the construction plus six A4 sheets giving a photo sequence and instructions for the model's construction and fit-out.

LITTLE KATE CANOE MODEL

The Selway Fisher Little Kate open canoe is a modification of the classic John Rushton Wee Lassie design which he was producing over a hundred years ago. The originals were of lapstrake Cedar planking but Selway Fisher modified the design so that it can be built using the frameless ply/epoxy or stitch and tape construction.

She is very much a lightweight single man canoe easily portaged from water to water. The plans are for a model of the wider 32" Little Kate.

Construction uses 0.4 - 0.75mm aircraft modelling plywood and the tack and tape (stitch and tape) construction method.

The plans give full-size plank shapes for the model. The planks are cut out of the thin plywood using scissors and held together with Sellotape before the seams are glued together using a PVA glue.

LITTLE KATE MODEL CANOE PLANS COST

PETERBOROUGH CANOE MODEL

The name 'Peterborough' was often used to describe any open Canadian type canoe but more especially those with a lightly rockered hull which had a moderate beam and some tumblehome.

The Fisher Peterborough has relatively narrow waterlines fore and aft to make her quick to paddle and a stable shallow veed bottom amidships with tumblehome to make her stable with a narrow beam.

The full-size Peterborough has a length of 15'7" and a beam of 32 1/2".Details of the full-size Fisher Peterbourgh canoe can be found on the Selway Fisher Design web site at 15'7" Peterborough Canoe.

PROSPECTOR CANOE MODEL

This is the Selway Fisher version of an old favourite - the Prospector type open canoe. The original Prospectors were originally designed in Canada and known as the "workhorse of the North".

They had to have a good carrying capacity for all of the Prospector's gear and they had to work well through white water and wilderness. The full-size Fisher Prospector canoe is 15'8" x 35".

Construction uses 0.4 - 0.75mm aircraft modeling plywood and the tack and tape (stitch and tape) construction method. The plans give full-size plank shapes for the model. The planks are cut out of the thin plywood using scissors and held together with Sellotape before the seams are glued together using a PVA glue.

RAVEN 14' CANOE MODEL

By popular request, we shortened the Selway Fisher 15'7" Raven to give a canoe easier to car-top on smaller vehicles.

She takes 2 adults plus camping gear. The hull has the Raven family's 3 panels per side plus a flat bottom panel and tumblehome giving her maximum beam down at the waterline.

The printed plan price excludes postal charges, which will be added to the plan price when the charge is made to your debit/credit card.
